All of our cranberries that we currently dry come from our fourth-generation farm located in Wisconsin. The property started cultivating cranberries in 1873. Cranberries were found growing wild, and dikes and ditches were built around the native stands of vines. The cultivation of these cranberries is maintainable, and other native species abundant, in the surrounding wetlands and forests. Cranberry vines are perennials, meaning we don't have to plant them every year, and they prefer well-drained sandy soil. Some vines are still producing at 75 years old - a true heirloom crop! Rather than adding nuts in your chocolate chip cookie recipe, use 1 cup of Honestly Cranberry! Use as a delicious and nutritional addition to your salads -- green, chicken, salmon, etc. Muddle in your favorite mocktail or cocktail -- an old-fashioned, Moscow mule -- or add a "daily dose" to your bottle of water, etc. Add to your favorite salsa or guacamole! Use Honestly Cranberrys dried cranberries as you would sweetened dried cranberries or fresh cranberries. Experiment in your favorite cookies, salads, brownies, dips, oatmeal, sauces, breads, pancakes, seafood, burgers, and vegetables. Pro-tip: soak them in orange juice before putting them in a cranberry bread or muffin, or let them soak in salad dressing for a few minutes before adding to the greens. Cranberries compliment many different flavors and recipes. Our dried cranberries may seem "flat" or "just the skin." Keep in mind that fresh cranberries start off small (1/2"-1") and they have 4-5 air chambers inside. Cranberries do not grow in water, but since they float, we use water as a tool to help us harvest! After the berries are harvested, they go to a freezer for at least a few months to become fully frozen. During the drying process, the frozen berries go through a slicer and each berry gets sliced 3-4 times. We do not add sugar, juice concentrate, other sweetener or flavoring, oil, dextrin, glycerin, rice flour, or corn fiber to plump them up and/or weigh them down.
